Rough Tor is a tall hill near Camelford. It is quite a walk to the top, it takes us about an hour to get to the top, but anyone who is fit would be able to get there in less time. When you reach the top, you are rewarded (on sunny days) with a gorgeous view of Bodmin moor.

How to get there

Coming from Wadebridge direction, go to Camelford continue all the way down the hill and up the other side. Near the top of the hill there is a turning on the right hand side with a blue plaque in the wall pointing right to Rough Tor.

From Davidstow, head for Camelford and as the road starts to drop to go into the town, look for a turning (the only one) on the left. Take this road.

Follow the road all the way to the car park.

Equipment needed

All you really need are some waterproof footwear as there are some soggy damp patches and a wind and rain proof jacket. It would be advisable to take a drink with you as well.

Photo from the car park for Rough Tor. It doesn't look very far, but it's quite a long way!

If you are feeling energetic, past Rough Tor there is an even higher hill called Brown Willy. To get there (from this direction) you have to climb Rough Tor, then go down the other side and up again.
